Lore’s first collection begins with wool sourced from the Alps, where two traditional breeds play a key role: the Merino Landschaf and the Jura Schaf. These sheep are valued in Austria and Germany primarily for meat, milk or landscape‑grazing rather than wool alone, which means their wool comes from animals that lead a natural, less intensively managed life.
Merino Landschaf
The Merino Landschaf produces wool that is fine in fibre, resilient and warm in use. Raised in alpine meadows, this breed adapts well to the terrain and climate of the region. Its wool brings softness and comfort, shaped by the mountain environment rather than by heavy intervention.
Jura Schaf
The Jura Schaf originates from the alpine Jura regions and is known for a coarser, more durable wool fibre that stands up to weather and time. Because the breed is kept for multiple purposes rather than just for wool, the animals graze freely and their fibre retains the character of the landscape they inhabit: strong, purposeful and deeply rooted in place.
Alpaca Blend
In addition to the Alpine sheep wools, the collection incorporates European and British alpaca wool. Alpaca fibre brings natural luster and additional softness, combining with the sheep‑wools to create fabrics that balance durability with refined tactility.
